West End Dental Inc Reopening
West End Dental is excited to begin seeing patients safely. These are unprecedented times, and we want to reassure you that we have taken every precaution to ensure your safety and wellbeing during your visit.

We are limiting the number of patients in the office in order to maintain appropriate social distance. We ask that you provide your own face mask when in the office, use provided hand sanitizer, and that you come to your appointment alone unless accompaniment is required.

All patients will be screened with a contactless temperature check, pulse oximeter reading, and verbal questionnaire.

We ask that you understand that our provider's time is more crucial than ever and request that you be prompt to your appointment, arriving no sooner or later than your appointment time. Understand that if you cancel your appointment less than 48 hours in advance or are more than 15 minutes late to your visit, we will charge your account a $50.00 non-refundable fee.

Thank you for your understanding and patience during these unprecedented times.

Digital Impressions

Digital Impressions at West End Dental, in Portland, ORAt West End Dental, our goal is to provide you with the best dental care possible. To achieve this goal of providing you with only the highest quality care, we use the latest dental tools and technologies in our office. Among the technology that we use here is the technology for digital impressions.

What are Digital Impressions?

Traditionally, when impressions were required, impression putty was used. Impression putty was both messy to use and could be uncomfortable for patients. Today, we take advantage of the latest dental technologies and offer digital impressions. When appropriate, impressions are taken using an optical scanner. We move the compact, handheld scanner over your teeth to capture an impression of the teeth and gums. It only takes a few minutes to capture the imaging field and the image is shown in 3D on a computer screen within seconds.

Why We Take Digital Impressions

There are several reasons why digital impressions might be taken.
•  Designing and creating dental restorations. With digital impressions, we can obtain exact one-to-one measurements of your mouth, which helps us to design veneers, crowns, and other dental restorations that will fit perfectly within your mouth.
•  Orthodontic treatment. Digital impressions can also be used in the planning of Invisalign® clear aligner treatment. Our iTero Element scanner is also able to render simulated outcomes of proposed orthodontic treatment immediately after scanning, so you can visualize how your teeth might look after completing the proposed treatment.
•  Fabrication of oral sleep appliances for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea.
•  Fabrication of removable dental appliances like removable partial dentures and orthodontic retainers.
•  Fabrication of surgical guides when used in conjunction with a CBCT x-ray machine for improved accuracy in surgically placing dental implants.

Benefits of Digital Impressions

Digital impressions offer numerous benefits, including:
•  Taking a digital impression only takes a few minutes of your time.
•  Instead of impression putty, your impressions are taken using a handheld wand. This means there is no mess. Getting your impression is also a much more comfortable experience.
•  Greater accuracy. Digital impressions provide exact measurements of your mouth. This helps to ensure that the restorations will fit perfectly within your mouth the first time.
•  We can store your impressions in your digital file. They can easily be accessed for reference in the future.
•  Digital impressions aid in faster turnaround time for your dental restorations.
•  Less anxiety. For some patients, getting dental impressions can be a source of anxiety. This is because traditional impression putty can cause gagging or discomfort. Thanks to the ease of digital impressions, there is less anxiety involved.

Thanks to the technology for digital impressions, we can eliminate some of the past unpleasantries associated with putty impressions while providing treatment that is on the leading edge of dentistry. This helps us to optimize your dental care, as well as your oral health. For more information on digital impressions, call West End Dental today at (503) 446-2957.
