Combating Bad Breath When Out at Work Functions

Posted on 12/7/2020 by Office of Dr. James A. Krippaehne
Combating Bad Breath When Out at Work FunctionsIf you have a problem with bad breath, you need to know what to do, especially in social or professional venues. The following information will help you keep your breath fresh if you need to attend a work-related function or event.

Keeping Your Breath Clean When You Attend a Work-related Function

Attending a work-related function may make you worry about your breath. After all, if you attend a seminar and eat meals and snacks during the activity, you may start to feel paranoid. However, you can still relieve some of the stress by carrying a travel sized toothbrush with you and a small tube of toothpaste. Dash off to the restroom for a quick brushing if you can do so. It also helps to carry a travel-sized bottle of mouthwash. If you are unable to brush, chew a minty sugarless gum or pop a sugarless mint in your mouth and let it dissolve. It also helps to stay well-hydrated. Drink plenty of water. If you do not adequately hydrate, you may experience dry mouth, which can cause you to have problems with mouth odor. By drinking water, you will flush out any odor-causing particles from in-between your teeth.

Review What You Eat

While most of us blame spicy or garlicky food to mouth odors, they can also be caused by meat. Meat can stick between the teeth, which can lead to problems with bad breath. If you have meat on your plate at a company event, make sure you swish some water around in your mouth after eating. Another way to keep the mouth clean is to eat a fruit that contains vitamin C. Vitamin C naturally kills the bacteria in the mouth that causes halitosis. Some teeth-cleaning and breath-freshening foods include oranges and raw celery and carrots.
