When you hear the word dental appointment, many people cringe, having experienced either cavities, crowns, or the dreaded root canal. It's very common for people to wait to see us until they have a problem. If you are one of those people, you are not alone. Our office would like to provide some basic information so you can enjoy good oral health and save money in the future. What You Can Do to Ensure Good Oral HealthPreventative action is the smart approach for your safety and overall health. In the future, you will save a lot of money avoiding massive restorative procedures. We first recommend that you purchase a good toothbrush. You need to get rid of your toothbrush every three months and invest in another one. Using an old brush, leaves bacteria and plaque. Electronic toothbrushes will typically clean your teeth the best. You should develop the habit of brushing your teeth twice a day for a minimum of two minutes. This will help you avoid expensive procedures down the road. If you have a cavity that you don't address quickly, it can escalate to where it requires a root canal. The cost for either is far higher than simply practicing good oral health routines. Preventative Strategies Outside of Brushing to Protect Your MouthFlossing is incredibly important. Getting those hard to reach parts of your teeth where bacteria are deposited. Floss each tooth side to side, down to your gum line. At first, you may feel some tenderness, but they will adjust to it and you will bring that bacteria out. You also need to spend two minutes brushing. Following the brushing, you need to have some good mouthwash on hand. Pick one that contains fluoride and kills off microbes in your mouth. Lastly, good teeth cleanings twice a year will help avoid any problems. That is where we come into the picture. The preventive maintenance can save you a load of money in the future. We are intent on providing the comprehensive dental care you can afford and addresses any problems you currently have. Please contact our office to schedule a teeth cleaning, or if you have further questions, please reach out. |
