How Do Problematic Wisdom Teeth Occur

Posted on 5/8/2023 by Office of Dr. James A. Krippaehne
How Do Problematic Wisdom Teeth OccurTypically, the wisdom teeth are the last to come in. People may be curious about the reason for their discomfort if their wisdom teeth swell and get infected. Wisdom tooth issues may be diagnosed and treated by seeing a trusted and experienced oral surgeon.

How Problematic Wisdom Teeth Occur

Since wisdom teeth are less common than once, people often need more jaw space to accommodate them. While the eruption of one's third molars rarely causes any discomfort, for others, it does because the tooth comes in at an awkward angle. The surrounding teeth may be pushed out of alignment if a patient's wisdom teeth erupt at an angle or do not erupt. This causes further problems with the mouth and teeth, such as crowding. Wisdom tooth issues may lead to cysts, cystic discomfort, misalignment, and other unpleasant symptoms.

Wisdom teeth extraction is the most common treatment for people experiencing discomfort from their third molars. Due to the danger they pose to people's oral and systemic health; wisdom teeth extractions should be scheduled as soon as possible. People needing their wisdom teeth extracted should seek the services of a competent oral surgeon.

The oral surgeon will take x-rays of the patient's mouth before extracting their wisdom teeth so that they can better grasp the unique challenges presented by the patient's grin. The next step is for the oral surgeon to prepare the patient to extract the wisdom teeth. Sedation dentistry ensures that patients have little discomfort during oral surgery. Once the troublesome wisdom teeth are successfully extracted, patients can smile without pain or worry.
